In Volume II of the SC UDC series "Recollections and Reminiscences" there are a series of letters written by a fellow named S.M. Crawford who was apparently a member of either the 1st, 2nd or 3rd SC Cav. A letter on page 230 describes the fighting around Charleston in July 1864 and is dated Adams Run, July 7, 1864.

The letters end on Jan. 7, 1865 on page 243.
