James Island burials

List Awhile back I asked about Adams Run burials and I know that there are several of you that are working on this. Now, I am wondering about the men killed, or who died in camp, on James Island. The June 16th 1862 action resulted in about 200 Confederate dead or wounded. It also resulted in several hundred Union dead or wounded. Col. F.G.Lamar estimated Union loss at 600 to 800 with "341 of their are buried in front of my batteries". It would appear that the Confederate dead were buried on site as well as the Union dead. Were these men removed after the war or are they still buried on site? James Crocker
