There is a small cemetery behind the site for the home, on Confederate Avenue in Columbia. My recollection is that it was only used later on and most of the limited number of interments were of widows and children.

If the families could afford it, the bodies were of course shipped home, but those who were not returned to their homes were buried in the Confederate Section in Elmwood Cemetery, Columbia. I know that the list of burials is in one of the Cemetery Books for Richland County, but to my knowledge it's not on line anywhere. Perhaps someone with one of the SCV Camps in Columbia can help.

Some of the burials in the Confederate Section at Elmwood are of men who died in Columbia hospitals during the war, and others are of the old veterans from the Confederate Home.
