L B. Parish, Private, Company B, 15th South Carolina Battalion Heavy Artillery, was recorded present on the March & April, 1863 muster roll, then "Died" on the following May & June, 1863 muster roll, both musters were held at Fort Pemberton, South Carolina, his widow, R. Parish's claim for his effects, January 23, 1864 does not indicated the date or place where he died.
Note: Confederate widow pensions were not authorized until late in the 19th century.

15th (Lucas) Battalion, Heavy Artillery
This unit was organized as infantry with two companies on June 6, 1861. It was mustered into Confederate service on James Island. In July of 1861, the unit was converted to heavy artillery. Company C was added on November 15, 1862. It was surrendered by Gen. Joseph E. Johnston at Durham Station, Orange County, NC on April 26, 1865.
