Thanks to you for the information on the 24th Alabama.I'm researching to find more information on Edward Rondeau, private 24th Alabama Infantry ( incidentally he served as Mobile Chief of Police).I believe Rondeau had a brother in the unit also- not sure?.Do you know of any first hand accounts of stories/diaries from a soldiers point of view other than Newton ? I have the Manigault book which is a good source. However,as you know, he was a commanding offcier and not a foot soldier like Rondeau.An enlisted man had a much different outlook and experience.

I could not find the Newton work when I tried finding a copy of his account from a certain journal entry several years ago. I was told by the Mobile library that it's not available/or the journal is not available?. I subsequently lost the citation to the Alabama Journal. Do yuo have the Newton link?

Do you know of other internet and contacts sources that will help me in my particular search? Thanks so much!
