Re: The Irish Volunteers Charleston

The Irish Volunteers Monument is actually in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Charleston, not in the adjacent Magnolia Cemetery. My great-grandfather Dennis O'Neill served as a teenaged private in the Irish Volunteer Company of the Charleston Battalion in the Civil War and when the monument was dedicated at St. Lawrence, he led the Irish Rifle Club contingent in the parade to the cemetery.
