Re: J.J. Bozeman Roll Call [ Hampton Legion] 1901

Dear Nancie:
I saw your positing of the obituary notice of Dr. Bozeman from Conffederate Veteran. He and hsi brother Tolliver L. Bozeman were originally members of the Bozeman Guards, Company E, Hampton Legion Infantry. TLB was the original captain of the comapny, which was raised from the Fountain Inn-Simpsonsonville-Princeton area of Greenville County, and originally msutered on the militia muster grounds across the road from Fairview Presbyterian Church, near Fountain Inn. A large minority of the original enlistees were members of Fairview. TLB had significant health problems and resigned in 1861. JJB eventually was appointed assistant surgeon of the Hampton Legion Infantry, which became the Hampton Legion Mounted Infantry in 1864. He is buried in the churchyard of Ninety Six Presbyterian Church, Ninety Six, S.C.

Are you a descendant? I would like to hear from you if you can share any information on either JJB or TLB. I have biographical sketches of each, drawn principally from their Compiled Service Records, but supplemented from other sources.

Lee
