Re: Interested in 7th SC Cav. or Hampton Legion Ca

Dear Bryce:
I am most interested in your accounts. My interet is in the Hampton Legion Mounted Infantry, which of course was brigaded with the 7 SCC at that time. As you are well aware, the accounts from that period of the war are harder to find than earlier--fewer men were around, thgings weren't going as well as earlier, and the newspapers were either out of business or had been cut back to a single sheet. Please E-Mail me what you have on the two October battles. Gary's brigade was involved in four significant engagements during that period: New Market Heights/Chaffin's Farm 29 Sep-1 Oct; First Darbytown Road 7 Oct (both of these are fairly well covered, in a general way), Second Darbytown Road 13 Oct, and Charles City Road 27 Oct. Because the action tended to be spread out, there are other names given to the actions. For instance, if your unit was closer to the river on 29 Sepo, the name Fort Harrison or Fort Gilmer is generally given.
Thanks, Lee
