Henry Smoke, A E. Smoke, Joshua Smoke enlisted on 7/1/1861 as Privates
On 7/1/1861 they mustered into "K" Co. SC 11th Infantry

Joshua died of wounds on 6/5/1864, Severely wounded in right leg, amputated

On 7/1/1861 he mustered into SC 11th Infantry

Henry L. Smoke, 22, Private, Capt. John D. Edwards’ Company, 9th Regiment South Carolina Infantry,* joined for duty and enrolled June 17, 1861 at Waterboro by F. M. Pickens for 12 months, re-enlisted for the war, (2nd) Company I, February 28, 1862, captured near Town Creek, February 20, 1865, arrived Point Lookout, Md. prison February 28, released June 19, resident of Colleton Dist., S. C., dark complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, 5’ 9”

* This company subsequently became (1st) Company I, 11th Regiment South Carolna Infantry. It appears to have been one of the companies that declined to enter the Confederate States service and was discharged. The regiment was re-organized for the war May 3, 1862.
