I'm getting a little confused with the 1st Palmetto Sharp Shooters and the 4th Regiment South Carolina. It appears some of the field officers with the Sharp Shooters were transferred over to the 4th South Carolina Infantry.

I'm assuming these were two separate organizations or did they merge or somehow consolidated later on?
