I am looking at the yorkville enquirer for March 15, 1883, It contains an article by JFJ Caldwell on McGowan's brugade at the battle of the white oak road.

It is on the library of congress website chronicling america.

The article appears under the heading "stories of the war"

This makes me suspect that there was an intermitten series in this paper
