Date of birth: 1843 Place of Birth: Franklin Co. Ohio
A document from the War Department states Franklin died Feb 21, 1865 near Columbia, SC, and that he died from disease. His unit was in the battle of Rivers bridge in SC. I also have a document that a soldier from his unit stated he died on the march from Raleigh, NC to Goldsboro and back to Raleigh. I don't know if they would have buried him near Raleigh or sent him to Columbia.
