Have you seen the Louis Sherfesee papers at the South Caroliniana Library in Charleston? It contains a lot of details on Hart's battery--Sherfesee was the first bearer of the battery's guidon. He describes the action at Williamsport, where Sgt John Newton was killed by a cannon shot while serving one of the guns of a Louisiana battery.
