I am trying to find out if any of my ancestors fought in the Civil War, however I'm having dificulty finding information on where certain regiments were raised from. I'm trying to see if an ancestor named John Hatcher was one of the John Hatchers who fought for South Carolina in the Civil War. The possibilities are in the 6th SC Calvary, 2nd SC Artillary, 1st SC State Troops, 2nd SC Infantry, 14 SC Infantry, 19th SC Infantry and the 2nd SC Rifles. I know some of the 14 SC Infantry companies were raised from the Edgefield area. My relative was from Anderson, SC so I'm trying to determine if any of these were from the Upstate area. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
