In Response To: Capt. C.C. White, 10th SC ()

White was from Georgetown District, and served as captain of Co. A (Georgetown Rifle Guards) from 31 May 1861 to 22 Jul 1864, when he was wounded and disabled during the Battle of Atlanta. He was previously a second lieutenant in the company.

The Georgetown Rifle Guards were organized and outfitted by Plowden Charles Jennet Weston, a wealthy planter from All Saints Parish in Georgetown District, who became the unit's first commander. The company volunteered for state service on 2 Jan 1861, and was stationed at South Island Redoubt near Georgetown from 4 Feb to 25 Apr 1861. It returned to state service with the balance of the regiment on 19 Jul 1861, and was transferred to Confederate service on 8 August 1861.

Hope this helps a little.
