Does anyone know of a place online where I can access the location of a Civil War Confederate soldier's place of birth? I know where he enlisted, but I do not believe that was his actual birth place. If I request his military record by mail,it would probably show the location of his birth. His name was George Rawlinson (or Rawlison, Rollison), and he enlisted in Newberry, SC in 1861 and died around Richmond, VA in late 1862.

Also, is there a place online to find out if anyone ever requested his pension?
