Re: J. Ravenel McBeth, 1st SC Artillery

CPT James Ravenel MACBETH, Co. E, 1st SC Artillery, was captured on Morris Island, SC, 10 Jul 1863, and sent to Johnson's Island, OH. He was moved to Ft. Monroe, VA, 8 Oct 1864, and forwarded for exchange on 12 Oct 1864. (Kirkland, Randolph W., Jr., BROKEN FORTUNES: SOUTH CAROLINA SOLDIERS, SAILORS AND CITIZENS HELD IN U.S. PRISONS 1861-1865, p. 200).

The following information was found at www.familysearch.org:
James Ravenel MACBETH
b. 27 Jan 1839, Charleston, SC
d. 29 Jun 1893, Wantoot Plantation, SC
bur. Trinity Church, Black Oak, Charleston Co., SC
m. Agnes Wallace PEARSON, 24 Dec 1862, Charleston, SC

He apparently also has a marker in the graveyard of the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston: see
http://www.first-scots.org/graveyard_memorial_indexes.html

Hope this helps.
