I am doing some research into the Irish Volunteers of Charleston, SC (specifically old Company C, Charleston Battalion; new Company H, 27th SC Vol.Inf. Regt.). While I have located some information from old newspaper archives I am wondering if there are any books published on this unit. Also, since the unit no longer exists (unlike the Washington Light Infantry and the Sumter Guards), can ayone tell me when any why it ceased to exist?
