I'm afraid I know nothing about John M. Hughs other than what I've read on the Internet. My husband is a decendant of Samuel Hughs who lived in White Co., TN and it was while researching him that I ran across the name John M. Hughs. Samuel had a son named John S. Hughs, but my husband decends through Samuels' son Sanford Monroe Hughes (Sanford added the e). Sam and some of his children had moved to Tarrant Co., TX by 1870. It is family legend that Sanford M. Hughs/Hughes served in the Civil War, but I haven't found any record that he did.

Perhaps you can tell me the names of John M. Hughs' siblings? A lead like that could surely save me some time.
