Re: Looking for TN burial location

James W. Clifton lived in Bibb County, AL. He enlisted in Company A at Tuscaloosa on March 13, 1862. He transferred to Company K (Pickens County) on July 16, 1862. He was substituted for H.L. Williams. Records show him absent, left sick at Clinton, TN during October 1862. Some rolls show him in a hospital at Knoxville, TN. The roll for Oct. 31, 1863, last on file, shows he died at Clinton, TN.

His name appears on a Register of Officers and Soldiers of the Army of the Confederate States who were killed in battle, or died of wounds or disease. Deseased Oct. 15, 1862 at Clinton, TN.

His name appears on a Register of Claims of deceased Officers and Soldiers from Alabama which were filed for settlement in the Office of the Confederate States Auditor for the War Department by Unica (Unice/Unissy) Clifton on March 18, 1863. Unice Tibbs Clifton was his wife.

Would these Registers be located at the Alabama Dept. of Archives & History, and would they have expanded information?

I have not been able to locate him in family cemeteries or church cemeteries in Bibb County where family is buried. However, I still haven't located Unissy's burial spot either.

Does anyone know of any Confederate cemeteries at or near Clinton, TN?
