This is the only letter we have. My wife's grandfather gave me the letter years ago before he died. He told me it was the last letter the family received before he was killed. He told me then that he was killed at Shiloh, but we sent for his records and it turns out he was mortally wounded at Perryville. He had told me he was shot in the mouth, which the records proved true. Since he was wounded, there were federal records of his treatment prior to his death.

What is the name of the county that Fort Pillow was in. Did we get the name close? The first letter looked like an L, but we could not tell for sure.
