I have been working to obtain all data possible on the 13th/16th Ga. Calvary. My gg served with this unit but his combined service record is not in the archives. I have a copy of his application for a pension filed in Ga., but it has very little info except his place of enlistment and place of surrender.
I have found info that indicates his unit may have operated under the command of General Fighting Joe Wheeler, and I have info that indicates that his unit served with General John H. Morgan on his 1st raid into Kentucky. I also have data that his unit was attached to Vaughn's Brigade in several battles occuring in Virginia. His unit surrendered near Abingdon, Va. on May 1, 1865.
It is understood that Morgan's headquarters were located at Abingdon for most of the war, but I don't have any hard info that would support this view.
If anyone has information concerning field operations that they would be willing to share concering the 13th/16th Ga. Calvary, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have some data on a few Tenn battles and skirmishes and will be happy to share.
