Scott Countians were in the war early, many having fought a Mill Springs and other lesser battles/skirmishes in Kentucky. And that goes for many other Tennesseans who made their way through the mountains and into Camp Dick Robinson. Look at the history of the 1st and 2nd Tennessee, for example, or the 1st KY Cav.We even had a few from this county who died (of both disease and battle-related) as early as 1862-63. A number of our late entries into the war were due primarily to their age . . . they entered late because they were too young to enter early.
