I am looking up information on the Federal 8th Tennessee Infantry Regiment; I had a ggg grandfather and a gggg uncle in the unit. I have a good idea of the unit's history in the Atlanta and Franklin/Nashville campaigns, but nothing good prior to May 1864.

I am interested in what the Eighth did during the period of September 1863 through April 1864. I understand from Tennesseeans in the Civil War that the unit was in Tennessee. But it is unclear to me what role it played, i.e., was it at Knoxville with Burnside, etc.
