Well, technically no. The story I know is that he was starved at Andersonville as most POWs were, but when he was released, he stopped at a home not far from the prison and the family that took him in fed him. Since he has not eaten in so long, his body wasn't able to digest the food and he died. His place of death is listed as Millen, GA.
