My Land family roots are in Western North Carolina ( Wilkes County.) My g,g,grandfather,David Land was a Confederate in the 13th N.C.Inf. I've read the books, " Bushwhackers " and the one on the Thomas Legion. East Tennessee and Western North Carolina were not pleasant places to be in those days!
Speaking of Vaughn's Command, Remember I said Jackson Simmon's daughter was my maternal g,grandmother ? Her husband, my g,grandfather,Melvin Cox had 4 uncles,( his Mom's brothers ) They served under Vaughn in the 60th Tenn.!!! Talk about your family " get-togethers " bet they were interesting!! I love it !! have since I was a kid. It's fun to talk to someone with the same interest. Till next time !
