Hello,
Didn't the The Union occupation forces in Nashville try to ship out the prostitutes from Smoky Row during the war? I read somewhere that they tried to send them to Louisville and Cincinnati but armed guards turned them back. I read it it in a work of fiction so I'm not sure that it's true. The book even claims that some of the women jumped ship to get back to Nashville. Prostitution was later made legal or so the book says.
Regards, James.
