LtC Oliver Perry Hamilton

On Dec 21 1862 he formed and joined a Confederate Battalion of men mostly from Jackson county which included family members. The battalion was called Hamilton's Battalion and was mustered into service April 11 1863. He was first elected as Major then made Lieutenant Colonel on July 1 1863. He was captured at Celina on March 18 1864. He was sent to Louisville Kentucky on March 25 1864 then transfered to Lexington July 10 1864. For a unknown reason he was shot and killed by a guard July 22 1864. He is buried in the Lexington National cemetery in Lexinton Kentucky.
