Thanks Alice, I also noticed an article on line recently, where the author mentioned an increase in the number of desertions in the 5th Iowa following the Battle of Nashville. His premise was that "Captain Jack" was in the area, as maybe a member of a Confederate unit, and 5th Iowa men were aware of it ???
