I'm researching the history of Strahl's Brigade, which included the 4th and 5th Tennessee Infantry and at times the 19th, 24th, 31st, and 33rd Tennessee Infantry Regiments. Brigadier General Otho F. Strahl, my 2nd cousin 5 times removed, is the only Confederate general killed at the Battle of Franklin who has not had his biography written. I intend to remedy that.
I want to tell the story of Strahl's Brigade and the officers and soldiers who served with my cousin. I've found a number of excellent sources of official records along with a good number of books by historians. I'd also like to find first-person accounts of service with the brigade and am hoping that some of the descendants of Strahl's officers and soldiers might have family archives that will help with my research.
