I have posted previously about my being in the old state female college building back in the 1950 s,however the most interesting building in that area is the current Avery Chapel located at 882 East Trigg. The Chapel is a heavily remodeled antebellum mansion sold to church in 1957 by some relatives of a friend of mine,Milton House. This is Memphis hidden history because Newton Ford owned it in the 1860s and he is never mentioned in local history. There are very few large antebellum houses in Shelby County still standing other than Hunt Phelan .If you go by there,you can see two large columns and will be able to visualize what it looked like 150 years ago
