Mr. Hodge,

Good morning. My brother and I are looking for any and all records pertaining to our GGG-Grandfather's older brothers, William P. and John A. Adams, both privates with Co I, 55th GA INF, who both died within days of each other on 21 and 25 July 1862 in one or more Chattanooga area hospitals, which we assume, were CSA field hospitals, but again, only an assumption at this point. More specifically, we are attempting to find out where they were buried. We also assume that William (14 years old) who died first, was being cared for by his older brother John (18 years old), who very likely became sick himself due to visiting or caring for his younger brother. If we can find out which hospital(s) they were at, we might be able to determine their most likely place of being interred. We have Dr. Stout's book mentioned above and were able to search Dr. Stout's records at Berry College in Rome, GA with no luck.

You mentioned Newsom Hospital in your previous thread below, but you didn't mention where they are located. Where are these records kept?

Newsom Hospital (Chattanooga): A register of patients, July 26, 1862-July 14, 1863 (four volumes), The register for December 1862-January 8, 1863, includes a list of sick in wounded Federal prisoners received.

We'd love to review them.

Thank you sir!

William Adams
