Battle of Dandridge Tennessee January 17, 1864

After the battle of Knoxville ended, there were still a very large number of Yankees in East Tennessee, including members of the ninth army corps and the 23rd army court. These trips were under the command of General Parke. Longstreet also remained in the area with two divisions of his army corps and various other infantry and cavalry and artillery commands

The federals under Samuel Sturgis crossed the french broad river which is located in East Tennessee. Their goal was to take advantage of the forage in that area. They were driven back and parke chose to reacross the river by LongStreet.

My question is what affect did this union defeat have on Confederate morale in East Tennessee and elsewhere?
