We have recently found that our GGgrandfather, John H. Martin is listed in the 1860 Claiborne County, TN census, along with his wife Sarah Jones and two children, John and James. Sarah is listed in the 1870 Polk County, TN Census with four children. John H. Martin was born about 1835 in either NC or VA, and apparently died during the War.
We are trying to determine which military unit John H. Martin may have served with during the War.
Any information about military units from Claiborne County would be appraciated.
