Thanks for the information. That's an interesting point regarding Federal service, I had not thought about that angle?....especially in light of that fact that he does not show up on post-1865 census records for Monroe Coutny, TN. Seems he moved for some reason? I'll have to check it out. I'll post whatever I come up with.
