Greg, the market for Regimental Histories is small, and mammoth publications with genealogical and extra-war details cannot be economically published without financial underwriting.

Dr. Cross is a Vanderbilt PhD, and has some little training in research and writing. Perfect books are a long time in the making. It took several years of dickering with publishers to get the 14th and the 49th into print, and the author in the introduction credits yours truly with keeping him on track, which I can tell you was not easy. I was involved heavily with both, and can tell you locating photographs, which I worked long and hard to do, was a formidable task, as you also well know.

The Virginia Regimentals Series by H. E. Howard was our model--an inexpensive series that anyone can afford.

We will be looking forward to the publication of your 50th Regimental History.

Both the 14th Tenn and 49th Tenn Infantry Regimental Histories are available from the publisher, Clarksville's Customs House Museum, www.customshousemuseum.org.
