Camp Chase and Tennessee

As most of you know one of the things Camp Chase was infamous for was its prison located at that time just outside of Colubmus, Ohio

By chance if anyone had an ancestor at the prison that died let me know and I will send you a photo his his grave at no charge.

In another related subject of Camp Chase, during the last week of April of 1862 a bag of letters were not delivered from its prisoners at Camp Chase. That is to say the letters were never mailed. From reading over the letters they are from soldiers who were taken prisoners from Fort Donleson and Island # 10. In 1904 the bag of mail from Camp Chase was found and given to the Ohio State Library.

These letters never made it back to Tennessee. Also keep in mind that at this time the prisoners were officers. The soldiers were moved to Johnstons Island perhaps a week later.

I do have access to a few of the lettes.
