I have had in my possession for many years a small pocket sized Bible, printed in New York in 1863, that was used and captured during the Civil War. There is an inscription written on the back cover that reads "J. M. Welch to Mary Welch, captured from the 10 Mo Regment at Tilton Ga. own (sic) the 13th of October 1864 Joseph M Welch to his sister Mary". Near the binding on both sides of the back cover is the name "Joseph L. Markey". On the front inside cover on both sides it reads "Nashville J L Markey". Underneath the inscription the name "James Welch" is written. Thanks for any information you might be able to give to us.
