As a descendant of Eastern TN Unionist and Confederates of course..this thread has peaked my interest...will have to do some research. I had four ancestors In the 3rd TN Mounted Infantry...four brothers....all survived the war, but three died in gunbattles soon afterward with ex-Confederates. The war didn't stop in some places at Appomattox...Their father was also in an Eastern TN regiment and was killed during the war. James Horton.
