Re: CSA Co. B. 7th Tenn. Reg, Lt. Wm. S. Herron

I am a civil war reenactor in a unit that portrays Company B of the Seventh Tennessee Cavalry. We are a dismounted cavalry unit out of West Tennessee. Company B fought in most of the engagements that the 7th fought in. Company B was detached for a period as Gen. Loring's personal escort early in the war. The 7th fought at Britton Lane, Holly Springs, Davis Bridge, Union City, Collierville, West Point, Okolona, Brice's Crossroads, Harrisburg, Johnsonville, Athens, Franklin, and Nashville. There were many smaller engagements and skirmishes in which the 7th fought. This is just a small list. I have done some research on the 7th for use in my unit, and on a repro battle flag that I painted up for the regt. Company B was the guidon company for the regiment and always in the thick of the fight. Company B actually started the battle of Brice's Crossroads in June of 1864, and was personally led by Gen. Forrest in a charge that routed the Union forces. I would be glad to give you more info on the regiment any time.

Your obedient servant,

Cpl. Jonathan Patterson
