Need help

Need some help please. Does anyone have any info on a Tenn. Union unit " 1st Tenn. National Guard " organized in upper East Tenn. sometime after Sept.1863 when Burnside captured Knoxville ? Seeking any info on a James Carroll in Co.A of that unit. Now a question bout the other side: East Tenn " conscripts " weren't held in high regard. Was it not a practice to seperate them from men they might know and influence ? James Carroll ( Confederate ) 63rd Tenn.Co.A. Killed at Drewrey's Bluff in Va. 1864. but he was in Co.A ( Claibourne County ) My James Carroll was from Sullivan County. All I know for sure is that he didn't survive the war and no record of his widow drawing a pension Union or Confederate. Hope some one can help.

Thanks,
Glenn
