Debbie, I just responded to you on the Louisiana board. I believe Jim is on the right track when he says it is possible he served both the Confederacy and the Union. Don't get the idea this was an act of moral treason. Often times men were drafted into the Confederate army against their will. Once forced to fight they sometimes took the opportunity to go on over to the Union side. Like Jim's family in Tenn. familys were divided in Louisiana also.

P.S. ___ Many of the men named Cole who served in the 1st Battalion Louisiana Scouts (union) were my kin. That makes me elgible for both the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Sons of Union Veterans and I will go on record as saying I'm proud of that :0)
