If you have your soldiers name I'd be glad to help find him. They can be found on the Civil War Soldier and Sailor Search Site. You may already have this http://www.tn.genweb.org/sullivan/cw.htm#reserves This will give you a very brief history of the reserves. I'am from Kingsport and in the library downtown there's a book on the history of Sullivan County that has some info on the Reserves and I believe some names from company rosters are listed. There's copies of pension requests from several of the reserves who were detailed to work in area saltpeter mines ( for gunpowder I think ? ) Any way I can help let me know.
