we are hoping to attend our first reenactment in Oct. in Franklin TN. We're not part of a group and don't even know anyone who is involved currently in this type of thing. No one in our part of Texas is into this much. We love this era and have done lots of ready and history studies on the various battles and personalities. We also are into genealogy and have researched our families on both sides, finding confederate veterans among them, some famous. I say all this to let you know that I'm not coming from a totally ignorant knowledge of the era, just of how people go about these reenactments. Because we will be on vacation and a long way from home, surprises won't be easy to handle, so I hope to find out as much as possible before hand and be prepared.

If you register as a civilian, are you to be in period dress at all times? Are you expected to do something? i.e. be involved in a period trade or be busy with period handwork or something? What do the civilians do during the day? What is the civilian camp like? Are there toilets, showers? Is everyone in period tents and the like, or are some in campers? If anyone can answer these questions, I'll ask some more later. Windy-homeschool mom from TX.
