Re: Stoneman's Raid
In Response To: Stoneman's Raid ()

I am researching my families involvement in the Civil War, and discovered that my Great Grandfather's brother, Abner was a Union POW, captured by the Confederates at (one?) of Stoneman's Raids.

My relative was held at Andersonville POW camp, Camp Sumter, and successfully survived his ordeal. He later moved to California, raised a family and coincidentally, his great grandchildren, as his brothers, my great grandfather, entered law enforcment and retired from law enforcement.

I recently travelled to Andersonville, and it was a most humbling experience. I don't live far from there, only about 225 miles.

I am an avid motorcycle tourer, and should anyone desire a digital picture of one of their relatives interred at Andersonville Cemetery, please don't be afraid to ask, as I will gladly take a digital picture of the headstone.
