My GGrandfather was David Lawson Gatewood, Pvt, Co "A", 6th Tenn Cav regt, USA. Served 3 years without incident, was discharged in Weakley Co, Tn. and went back to his family. He was subsequently gunned down in front of the local bank in Palmersville, Tn at the age of 33.
