There are several battle sites in the area but they are difficult to find, as little or no effort has been made to preserve them. Knoxville & Ft Sanders has been consumed by the campus of the University of Tennessee. Strawberry Plains, by US 25 Mossey Creek, has a Mal Mart and a new cemetery and a working farm. Morristown by housing and industry, Dandrige by Douglas Lake, Fair Garden is a working farm. If you go to Morristown go to the Rose Center and get a brochure with a map for a driving tour of these site. You may venture to Cumberland Gap where the NPS maintains that area. Good Luck
