My GGGrandfather was in Sill's Brigade.1stLt.John F.Elliott,36IL.Inf.Co.K...Dec.26,1862"We were shortly turned off the pike to go around a creek by a circuitous route,----.A negro was engaged as a guide, who, misunderstanding the Generals orders, took us the wrong way;so after wading and slipping throught the mud,the artillery cutting deep ruts,we had to return and seek another track,-----.Having sucessfully crossed the creek,we again came upon the pike,to find that Davis's Division, which was behind us,had gone on to Nolensville before us,in consequence of our delay finding the right road."
While it does not mention the mill. It would be my guess that the creek in mention might be the location Hescock O.R..It would be north of Nolenville on the east side of the pike. The stream would be of good size with a permanate flow to power a mill and would of crossed the pike .It started to rain rather heavily soon after starting to march.Left Mill Creek at 6:00am Dec.26.
