The Tennessee in the Civil War Message Board

COLONEL/BG JAMES E RAINES

Can any of you sure enough CSA or Civil War period scholars out there tell me if this man spelled his name RAINES, OR RAINS. I have now seen it spelled both ways in reference to this fine man on 14 differnt web sites and search engines. As you can see on my second reference below he name is spelled both ways in ONE SINGLE REFERENCE.
