My great granfather, Michael Rowan was a Union solder who our family story says was stationed at Fort Wood, on Bedloe's Island, where now stands the Statue of Liberty.
When I do pull him up in different areas, it says that he was at Hart's Island. How can I find out if he was there?
He and his wife, Catherine, lived there and he died on September 8, 1872.
